The Sheraton Grand Seattle in located in the heart of downtown Seattle, directly adjacent to the Seattle Convention Center. Its proximity to local attractions like Pike Place Market and the monorail to Seattle Center (home of the Space Needle), makes it a great homebase for any visit to the city.

The 35-floor, 1,200+ room hotel was originally built in 1982 and underwent a multi-million dollar renovation in 2018. It included a redesign of the guest rooms, bathroom renovations and the addition of a Starbucks marketplace. The hotel was one of the first Sheraton properties in the world to be entirely renovated to reflect the brand’s new, modern vision. With the completion of the renovation, it was re-branded as a Sheraton “Grand” property.
Location
Located on 6th Avenue, between Pike Street and Union Street, the hotel is perfect if you’re in town for a convention. It’s also in walking distance to lots of great attractions, restaurants, bars, cafes, and shops. The hotel is less than a ten minute walk to Pike Place Market, the waterfront, the Seattle Aquarium and the Skyview Observatory. It’s also just three blocks from the monorail to Seattle Center, which is home to the Space Needle, the Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum and the Museum of Pop Culture (affectionately referred to as MOPOP).
Parking
On-site, valet parking is available for $68 per day. Unless you’re going to take day trips outside the city, you can definitely get by without a car in Seattle.
Lobby
As soon as you enter the lobby, you’ll see where Marriott spent a good chunk of the renovation budget. The huge, modern lobby encompasses that “Grand” feeling that came with the rebranding. The check-in area contained several desks, making it easier to handle big crowds of people.

The expansive lobby continues into a large, bright lounge area with cozy accent furniture, perfect for enjoying a morning coffee.

The Room

The renovation is now seven years old, but it’s held up quite well. The color scheme in the hallways, elevator banks and rooms are in the browns and gold family. The gold color gives the hotel a luxurious look, but the combination of colors made the pictures look kind of dark.

The standard room was a good size, containing two double beds, a television and a small table and chairs.

The room also came with a mini-fridge and coffee station.
The Bathroom
The bathroom is pretty standard as far as size and appearance go. The big illuminated mirror above the vanity was a nice touch.

There’s not much to say about the tub shower other than it was also pretty standard.

Hotel Amenities
Amenities include two restaurants, a wine bar, a Starbucks marketplace, a Sheraton Club Lounge and a bi-level fitness center & indoor pool.
Dining
Alder & Ash
The stylish and bustling Alder & Ash is a bar and grill open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It serves American cuisine and regionally inspired dishes of the Pacific Northwest.

Vivienne’s Bistro
Open for lunch and dinner, Vivienne’s Bistro offers a fresh, creative and respectful interpretation of Asian cuisine.

Fountain Wine Bar
Built around a restored fountain sculpted by iconic local artist George Tsutakawa, Fountain Wine Bar offers a unique array of local wines and craft beer options.

With seating at both the bar and in the lounge area, there’s plenty of room for even the largest of groups.

Starbucks
It wouldn’t be Seattle without a Starbucks and this hotel has a “full” one in the lobby. They refer to it as an enhanced Starbucks marketplace, which features breakfast and lunch items plus all your favorite beverages. In the evening, they have a variety of local beer and wine options as well.

Fitness Center and Indoor Pool
The 24-hour, bi-level fitness center is outfitted with Peloton bikes and the latest cardio and strength equipment. There’s also an indoor pool. Both are located in the same space on the 35th floor and provide panoramic views of downtown Seattle, Puget Sound, and the Cascade Mountains.
Bottom Line
Seattle is a fun and vibrant city with a mix of cool local spots, great food options, and some must-see tourist attractions. If you’re looking for a hotel to setup a homebase for your trip, I would highly recommend the modern and recently renovated Sheraton Grand Seattle. It combines a fabulous location with modern luxuries, but at prices won’t break the bank.
